What Does “The Cross” Mean to You?

The “Cross” has many different meanings to different people.  One of the definitions listed in Google ® is “an upright post with a transverse bar, as used in antiquity for crucifixion.”  Another is “to go or extend across or to the other side of.”  When I think of the Cross, it portrays to me the fact that Jesus carried it, hung on it, was crucified, beat, and mocked while hanging on it, and ultimately died on it.  ALL FOR ME.

Where are the Children?

There has been many strange happenings lately.  I notice it, mostly here in the United States because that is where I reside, but I’m sure it happens everywhere.  It’s a scary subject.  It seems like children have been getting kidnapped.  I worried so much about this when my son was small, even though it was a different world back then.  So what is happening? Are You Ready?

“Are you ready?”  One of my goals for the new year is to read the devotional journal “100 Days of Bible Promises” every day and so far, I have kept that goal.  Not a hard thing to do; the devotionals are short, they include writing space for your thoughts (if you wish), some accompanied scripture, and a short prayer.  It’s not too late to get your own HERE by putting in #71925B on Mary & Martha’s website!  Feel free to look around also, there may be a huge SALE going on right now…  😉    Continue reading “Are You Ready?”

Happy New Year 2019!

Hey there!  I bet you thought I didn’t exist anymore, eh?  Well, I must apologize.  I haven’t written a post since Black Friday.  There’s a number of reasons, most of them very boring, so in the interest of keeping your attention…I won’t bore you with them!  The main thing is-I’m baaaaccckkkk!!!!  Hehe! 🙂

So I had a wonderful Thanksgiving – I hope you did too!  And…I had a beautiful Christmas – I hope you did too!!  But now…NOW…it’s A NEW YEAR!!!   YAY!!  So I’m very excited to get into the new year with new goals.  I’d like to share my goals with all of you, because in fact, they are gonna impact everyone!  Intrigued??  I hope so!  I hope you have some attainable goals also.  But here they are!

100 Days of Bible Promises by Mary & Martha. #71925B 100 Days of Grace & Gratitude #10983B
  1. Read Devotional daily

Mary & Martha carries these two devotional books:  “100 Days of Bible Promises, A Devotional Journal,”  (item #71925B) and “100 Days of Grace and Gratitude, A Devotional Journal.”  (item #10983B)  Together, you can have TWO HUNDRED DAYS out of the 365 days in a year with a different devotional!  How cool is that?  So, you say, “how is that gonna help me?”  Well, I have decided that not only am I going to read my devotional daily (along with the Bible verses), but every week I will summarize the seven devotionals and blog about them.  I do feel that bringing people to Jesus before it’s too late is something we were put on the earth to do.  Sometimes I have difficulty doing this because I am extremely shy; sharing with my blog is one of the ways I can do this.  Now, should you feel compelled to have one of these beauties of your own…click here and you can order it!  But wait!! (As of January 2 they just might be on sale!!) Hehe.  Just a heads up!!

2.  Write Blog Posts at least two times a week

Well, I don’t want people to get tired of hearing from me, or unsubscribe!  I think daily is too much, weekly is not bad…but I want to try for two times a week.  I may not make two, but hopefully one at least.  We will see!!

3.  Exercise More

I know when I started my blog in February of 2017, I started a diet plan.  Well, I’m happy to say that after I reached that weight loss goal, I kept it off!!  I do think I should exercise a little more, however, and try to tone more, and increase my endurance.  Anyone with me??  For the endurance and those with knee problems, a recumbent exercise bike would be best, or even a restorator (portable exercise bike).  Amazon has a couple of great ones.  Check these out:

Recumbent Exercise Bike ——->    Check me out

Portable Exercise Bike ——>  Check me out

Or if you prefer walking and it’s too cold to walk outdoors, check out these treadmills:

Treadmill ——>   Check me out

Treadmill ——>   Check me out

Don’t forget toning!  To tone, using light weight is best.  Increase reps, light weights.  You can get some here:

Light weights/dumbbells —–>   Check me out

Light weights/dumbbells (set) —–>   Check me out

Light weights/ankle —–>   Check me out

And if you’re in it to build muscle well…heavy weights should be your choice!  Check these babies out!!!

Heavy weights/dumbbells —–>   Check me out

Heavy weights/dumbbells (set) —–>   Check me out

Remember before starting any exercise program to get yourself checked out by your doc and make sure you are good-to-go!!  And don’t overdo it!!

4.   Establish a home routine

I know most people have a morning routine at home and I do also.  You know, get up; brush; dress; coffee; etc.  Thing is, my away-from-home work has been very sporadic!  I am now considered “PRN” which, if you are not in the medical field, means as-needed.  This can be good or bad.  It’s good because I don’t have to work when I don’t want to.  So if they call me and say “I need help on such-n-such a day, are you available” and I am but I don’t want to work, I can say “nope!”  It’s also bad in the same manner, because if you have bills to pay and there are no hours for you to work, well, there is no money to pay your bills!!  lol.  So…back to the routine.  Since I have taken the PRN status, I don’t have a set time that I get up in the morning-mainly because I don’t get up and get ready for work.  That means my sleep timer is a bit off and I’d really like to get that back on track.  So. Establish that routine!!

5.  Study up on money-making ideas for the blog

I took Pete and Heather’s 30-Day Blogging Blast-off Course (which was amazing by the way!!!) and learned how to make money with my blog.  I have done some of the easier things, but because learning electronics at my age (hehe) have always been a challenge, I sometimes need a little assistance with more complicated things.  I really want to get into these things and see if I can get the help I need to figure it out!  This is truly one of my 2019 goals!  (Son, if you are reading this, someday I won’t have to call you with all my computer problems…I promise!)

6.  Start a New Prayer Journal

There are many people that need prayer!  I believe in prayer, I’ve personally witnessed the miracles of prayer.  I am a prayer warrior.  I will start a new prayer journal for 2019.  So far I just use a notebook.  You can, if you like, order journals to write down people you pray for, from Amazon, HERE.  If you need me to pray for you, there is a form on the right side of my blog site you can fill out.  Check mark if you want me to share with other prayer warriors.  If you do I will.  If you don’t I won’t.  Your prayers are confidential with me (and the other prayer warriors if you choose to share).   Also, think about praying for yourself and others daily!!  Hey, what can it hurt??

I hope you have made some goals for 2019.  And please, make them attainable goals!  There’s nothing like the disappointment of making a bunch of goals and then never reaching them!!  Many have weight-loss goals.  If you need to lose 100 pounds, try for 10 first!  When you reach that goal…another 10.  Believe me, you will feel soooo much better about yourself!!

Well there you have it folks.  I hope you have a wonderful, amazing 2019 and you are truly blessed!

Blessings,

-Connie

What About Black Friday??

*Contains affiliate links.  See full disclosure for details.

Black Friday.  Those words take on different meanings to different people.  When you hear “Black Friday”, what thoughts come to your mind? —  Sales?  Shopping?  Crowds??  Bargains???  How about…leftovers?  😉  Do you know why we have those sales and bargains on Black Friday?  Here is the reason I have heard since I was very young, and one of the meanings according to Google:

Black Friday is the day when retailers finally begin to turn a profit for the year.  In accounting terms, operating at a loss (or losing money) is called being “in the red” because accountants traditionally used red ink to show negative amounts (or losses).

In other words, Black Friday is the beginning of the Christmas shopping season where there are mega-sales, and those companies “in the red” are now “in the Black!”

What are your thoughts on Black Friday?

Some people love to shop.  I am one of those people!!  I have always loved to shop…love me a good bargain!!  When Black Friday was discovered by my younger self, I was totally into seeing what bargains I could find, and seeing just how many stores I could hit before they ran out of all the stuff I “needed!” lol.  What about you?  So…what’s it like now that I am an uh-hummm “grown-up??”  Well, it’s a little bit different.  Although I hate to say it, I don’t like to go out shopping much anymore!  Now, don’t get me wrong…I still LOVE SHOPPING!!!  Crowds tend to make me have panic attacks anymore, just can’t seem to breathe.  So my preferred method of shopping is ONLINE!
